He Started It

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Barack Obama has pointed out to journalists that “it wasn’t under me that we started buying a bunch of shares of banks. It wasn’t on my watch. And it wasn’t on my watch that we passed a massive new entitlement -– the prescription drug plan — without a source of funding.” As Micheal Tanner of Cato puts it “He Has a Point.” Many Republicans in Congress, as well as some conservative commentators like Rush Limbaugh, have been extremely hypocritical in attacking spending now that Obama is in power and not causing a stir when Bush was in charge.

This does not excuse the bad behavior. If big spending was bad when Bush was in power, big spending is bad now. In many ways, the Democrats often sound like two kids quarreling tattling “He started it” to excuse bad behavior.

Obama Wants To Raise Taxes On Social Security

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Hillary Clinton has put out a new mailer in Nevada pointing out that Obama wants to effectively raise taxes on Social Security. Obama has suggested raising the cap on income for Social Security taxes. Hillary Clinton points out that this is effectively a trillion dollar increase.
Hillary Clinton is right to point out this tax increase. Let’s hope Hillary continues to block tax increases!

THe Government Union Supports Hillary

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

The AFSCME, the union that represent government workers has a new ad out supporting Hillary.

The ad is pretty sad with different shots of white women looking depressed because Hillary cares about the country. Successful campaigns are run on positive messages not on ads that feature people depressed because being Senator from a large state isn’t enough power.

Does Hillary Believe in Anything?

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Several times during the Democratic Party debate last night.

I can understand Hillary Clinton’s position refusing to answer possible hypotheticals but Hillary should at least be able to come up with a favorite sports team.

When Hillary Clinton was asked if she would support the Yankees or Cubs in a hypothetical series Hillary said “Well, I would probably have to alternate sides.” It is scary that someone who waffles on her favorite sports team may one day be “alternating sides” on her policy positions.

Kucinich Runs In Obama’s Shadow

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich is planning to run for President.

Kucinich previously ran for President campaigning on the Iraq war among other issues.

Kucinich’s plan is to run solely on the Iraq war. In a recent interview with TruthDig’s Joshua Scheer, Kucinich would only mention the war. When Scheer asked Kucinich’s opinion on other issues, Kucinich would only give more reasons against the war.

In 2004, Kucinich may have bean the anti-war candidate but the 2008 Democratic field includes the highly popular anti Iraq war candidacy of Obak Obama. Obama is a highly respected candidate with strong convictions against the Iraq war. Kucinich will just be nothing more than one of those annoying little dogs barking. Kucinich may bring up the issue of Congress cutting off funding though.
