I was in Russia at a Trade show after party and I heard the original version of Pitbull’s Hotel Room Service play and it felt so American. It was a nice change from the bad taste in techno that Russians seem to have.
Normally however I’m not the biggest fan of club music.
I found this great video for a song called “Keep It Moving” by underground Chicago rapper Seel Fresh.
The song is off of Seel Fresh‘s sophmore album Street Famous which drops October 28th. “Keep It Moving” is produced by Cee The chef with Cuts by DJ Mental. The video is directed by Brian “TangAble” Evans and features cinematography by James Mulholland. Link via VidRap.com
This video seems to have been made a while ago because I remember watching a grainy version copied with a camcorder earlier this year. It is good to see Kanye West putting out more videos for his album even at this late date after release.
I saw this great remix to the Jay-Z song Roc Boys by K Def. The horns are replaced with a smooth guitar lick. Instead of being a party song the song switches to a laid back song emphasizing the lyrics with occasional blasts of sirens for a sense of urgency.
There is a new Jay-z song called “Jocking Jay-Z” produced by Kanye West that is floating around the internet. More Jay-z talk about how rich he is and famous he is; Jay-Z’s act of exclaiming how famous he is getting a little boring but his rap flow is still great and the Kanye Beat is amazing with the simple guitar distortion and straight forward hard rap drum beat.
T.I. has a new song called Whatever You Like that has a new kind of sing-songy hook that I like. It’s a typical rap song about sex and materialism but it sounds good and sometimes that is enough.
The video features a bunch of stills of a girl partying which goes along with the theme of the video. Another quality video from Kanye West. Kanye West is one of a small number artists who still make a large number of high quality videos. It seems like artists have adopted a grainy budget video recording technique which is due both to the record companies massively cutting the budgets spent on artists and the recent growth of video sharing sites like YouTube and OnSmash which partly lowers consumer expectations for the quality of music vieos; thankfully, Kanye West has bucked the trend of low budget music videos.
